Cock Shot

When historians go searching for an icon of sexual culture circa 2006, they'll have to choose the cock shot. Craigslist, all those hook-up websites....cock, cock, cock. What is the origin of the strange notion that the erect cock makes a good calling card? Simple vanity? A hanger-on from gay subculture? Or does the hard-on, extended like a handshake, actually work as an introduction? I'd much rather see an pic that showed personality - arty, straight-arrow, suggestive, whatever. On our online profiles we say it directly: do NOT to send us cock shots. And still they trickle in. I guess that's good. Now we know the sender is rude and they can't read.

Oh my god do I have things to say about this. So rude. So aggressive. So....I don't know. Ugh. I mean I hate to sound like a traditional female, but its off putting. I guess there are ladies out there that want that, that respond to the cock first and the person second but generally I want at least the illusion of seduction, even if it was for a one time hook up.
I try to imagine who does that....a guy sitting reading craigs list or alt and skimming the ad and even though it says no cock shots...."I've got a great idea. I'll send a picture of my cock."
Huh?
Buh bye.
Me? I look at hands, at eye contact, at how a person eats or drinks. And how they smell.
Obviously you can't get that in an online response. But you can be witty or creative and the goddam least, respectful.

Oh, G & G, I am so with you here. I recently made an AFF profile only to view someone's that I had met. Knowing me, it shouldn't be shocking that while I was there I browsed. I had to make my way through at least 3 pages of dick before I saw a face. What the fuck I ask you.

Do these men think their cocks are their most appealing quality? If so, lord am I not interested. It's safe to say that I love cock, but not random, anonymous, disembodied cock.

I am also less than thrilled with seeing some woman's ad where her cunt is front and center, or has some appendage or other rammed in it. However these ads are usually aimed at men and hey don't seem to mind.

Rant over.

Not only that but they're always *erect* cocks. One of my most frequently viewed and reposted photos is a cock shot but it's a sleepy one.

I agree with you, Goose, and Tess too, that our respective naughty bits, while no doubt pleasant to eyes, ears, noses, and throats, they're ever so much more so when people have first seen, and spoken with, their respective owner's faces.

Agreed.

I don't like the piƱata genital, regardless of the gender. I don't care if they're lady parts or cock shots; I don't want them sprung on me like a trick snake from an exploding can of nuts.

Unless I know the person attached to the disembodied genital Biblically, I don't want to see it, all floating in space like an evil erotic apparition.

The only exception to this rule is Rupert and his cock, and that is only because his man part is so motherfucking gorgeous.

It probably smells good too.

From a male perspective, I agree. Taken out of context, it cannot be considered by any stretch of the imagination a thing of beauty. I prefer to keep the thing hidden away (inside Emm preferably - which is what I mean by context).

If someone wants to post their junk on their own blog, I say go for it. And there's a difference between the figleaf or rupert shots which are occasional and part of an ongoing story and personality we're getting to know - I dig that, obviously - versus that bland, 'here it is' aesthetic on the dating sites.
